3D Vintage Genco Ads
I found this Ad from a 1918 edition of 'The Literary Digest' and was able to track down a couple Genco razors... One Safege, like the one in the pic.
I have been cleaning them up and the Safege bit me pretty good during a distracted moment while polishing so that is why the electrical tape now covers the edge.
Still plenty of work to do but decided to take a break and post some pics. Still looking for the Genco with bolsters in the pic. Not sure whst to do once I've got them both, and completed... Shadow Box with Ad and razors or a shelf display with the Ad as backdrop... Still working out those details.

Thanked: 580I see it says safe to shave on a swerving train, a lurching ship, or at the front under fire. I think shaving may be the last thing on your mind while under fire, cool razor.

I would think so too... But, that would make a great scene for an action movie... Hero slowly shaving as gunfire and explosions erupt/Hero continues to shave as he ruefully shakes his head and easily dodges a bullet that passes through the towel over his arm/Support Character rushes in screaming about the attack/Hero continues to shave stating, "Son, I never go into battle scruffy!" pulling Support Character over to safety as shrapnel explodes through tent just missing him/Scene zooms in on face which is uncut and hand steady as Hero grins taking that last pull to finish his shave...

I have only seen the Safedge in the faux Ivory and I have seen about ten of them. Not that there are not rescales out there.
Just my take on the brand.

PS, They are great shavers when properly honed and stropped! That is of the few differing models of the Safedge that I have tried with and without the guard.Last edited by Geezer; 10-16-2012 at 12:57 AM.

Thanks! When I first saw a pic of that razor I thought the guard was related to storage/carry but after reading the Ad realized it was used while shaving.
I will have them done by next weekend including honing so that will be my Sunday Evening Shave treat... Trying out that guard! :-)
IIRC the other pictured razor is a Genco 'Professional'... I recently saw one on eBay but it was in much too rough shape.
