    Default NOS Dubl Duck Goldedge

Haven't posted in a while, but I had to share this. Just aquired a NOS Dubl Duck Goldedge from an antique dealer.

Never been honed, the coffin still has the wrap around it and the logo paper has not been cut for opening. It was opened on the one end. What a great find in my opinion.

One question for the experts. Will Maas harm the gold plating?

Nice find and I would think that virtually any metal polish by their very nature would hurt the gold wash.

Metal polish will definitely polish away your goldwash.
The blade can be polished...not the gold on the tang.
I would leave the blade as is.

Thanks fellas. There is just a bit of tarnish on the gold wash and I wanted to shine it up a bit. I figured there had to be something out there that is pretty mild. Probably just leave it alone I suppose.

I tried to clean a small spot on the tang of mine. The gold wash came off immediately. Used very light pressure and only a few rubs using a Qtip and metal polish. I'd leave it alone. Mine is very nice, but not NOS, so it wasn't too big of a deal.

    Regards,
    Howard

Edit: Congrats on the razor. That's an excellent find, especially in an antique store. Really a nice razor!!

I hope I get that kinda lucky sometime. Though there's a new antique store in town, most of the existing one's have call lists already so I'm thinking I'm gonna hit this one up tomorrow, see what they have and drop the word on what I'm interested in.

From the old ads about the factory edge, you might be able to strop and shave right out of the box. I did that with my NOS Bartman, ERN and Henckels.

    Great find.
