I hope I am wrong but there seems to be a lot of "masonic" razors on the bay these days.

Biggest part of them are new production from the Pacific rim and mostly suitable for opening letters. However, the occasional oldy shows up and Cheeta runs the price up so high nobody can buy it but him

Funny that you mention that because, when you look at the blade the etching looks perfect and the blade part almost mirror finish, but the tang looks untouched with quite a bit of patina like maybe perhaps somebody buffed the blade only and added an etching?

The new ones are easy to spot, and are almost always listed as "new" condition.
There is another "vintage" one on the bay now with 16 ish bids....

There are in fact a huge number of "masonic" razors on the bay. But these are almost all modern stuff with no relationship to a vintage blade.
It may be that there is somebody etching old blades with a new etch, but at least they are using vintage quality. Worse case is that they have been overheated while buffing them up for the new etch, best case is you have a vintage blade that looks like new, and will give you great shaves for another 100 years or so.
