Always nice to see these Monkey tail razor come up, even Case Bros had their take on a very similiar Monkey tail razor!

On the tang is states "patent June 6 1880." I don't know how old this one really is.

I shaved with it last night and it shaved great! It was a little awkward at first due to the blade being smaller than a "normal" straight razor. After a couple of passes, I got used to the "feel" of it. This is definitely one to keep in my rotation!!

I actually had a very different experience with mine. Max did a restore, but I did the honing. I put on some tape (just to protect the restored look) and she took a really smooth shaving edge with no troubles at all.

Nice score! I've always loved this shape, I never seem to be able to find one in decent condition though =[

I had to put two layers of tape on the spine in order to get a good edge.

I had to go 1 layer on mine.

The Case razor, is the steel as hard as their other razors? You have my interest...

I also just got my hands on a DePew razor, I previously had only seen in pictures. I was kind of shocked by how small it actually was

I have one of those Case Springville, NY smiling razors with a normal monkey tail. Used to have another with the same scales as that pictured above but sold it. Hard steel and a lot of work to hone to shave ready IME.

That is one reason I never bought one. I had an opportunity to get a really nice one but the seller, an SRP member, pointed out to me the length of the blade and I decided against it. For someone with a beard, or a goatee I bet it would be sweet for working around the edges.
