    It appears to be like a burl in nature, and this stuff is translucent if you hold it up to the light. It doesn't have the shimmer of some woods like flamed redwood, or maple, but when you move it around, catch the light differently, giving it the illusion of depth. Hold it up to light, you can see the outline of the blade. It finishes much like buffalo horn, in that you can bend/straighten it with heat, and it will buff to a brilliant finish.

    Refract or iridescent are good words to describe it.

    Just make sure if you buy it that it is well seasoned,an entire boss with the horns removed takes about two yrs.1/4 in. slabs take at least 3 mos. It will move around alot.

    This in Cocobolo and musk ox,I left some of the bark on the top for a unique (IMO) effect,this will get a 24mm TGN grade A knot.
