Have you ever seen Musk Ox...
Used in a straight razor?
Here is one I finished yesterday. After my W&B cracked blade, I needed a little relaxation therapy, so I took a damascus billet I hammered together a little while ago, and this is the result. I did a bright finish on the blade, you can see it better in the video clip.
The scales are Musk Ox boss (The horn on the skull plate) Sliced up a piece, and figured out how to get the best scale shape with what I had to work with.
Hope you like it. Let me know if you see anything that needs my attention.
Blade is a full inch tall, but on the hone line its .81 high, with a spine thickness of .225 which gives me a bevel angle of 16 degrees.
Thanks for looking.
My friends call me Bear.

Thanked: 247I think you might have forgotten to drop it in the post for me. That's ok. I'll send my address, so you can get it in the mail right away. I know you don't really want to clutter your work area with finished pieces. Looks great!

Thanked: 1587It looks like really nice scale material. Almost, but not quite, a mother of pearl luminosity or something. Nice.

Hey Pixel and Pierre - those all look fantastic!
I don't think I've stumbled across musk ox boss on offer from any of the places where I usually get my scale material - any suggestions for suppliers?
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.
