I'll take a better look at it tomorrow and see what I can find out about it!

For those who don't know. The ringtail razor was offered. I believe it's the real deal. And I think it's awesome that somebody finally found one and posted it. I've never seen one in person, and must confess I've never even searched the forum to see if anyone owned one. But there is a book on straight razors that shows one, describing it as a very rare option. To be safe, I'm inclined to stand behind whatever Voidmonster says about it. But I don't think it's a "modded" piece. JMHO.

Did take another look at it and can't find anything indicating any modification other than the extra rivet fix.
Scales appear to be horn and the wedge is lead.

Might be! Scan and post it! Does anyone else have documentation that it was offered for sale, adverts? Any pics of another one? I have not seen this in razors this old. Is it from the old Barber, or the newer one?

You know as much as I would be reluctant to do it, I'd maybe unpin it to take a look at the tang up close and personal. Whether it is original or modified it is a unique piece for sure. If it is modified it must have been done a very long time ago. When you think you've seen it all something like this comes along. Very cool piece one way or the other.
