Thread: Password Manager Login

Dearest Gugster!

Has something changed in terms of logins with the site, or with VBulletin, in terms of using a password manager (PM)?

It could very well be me, or a change in my PM software, but I thought I'd ask here first.

Well, I've noticed for a while that trying to log in from "www.straightrazorplace.com"
produces this error and a non-login:

Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /login.php on this server.

Whereas skipping the www.-part works properly.

I have been studying the term 'gormless'. It would seem that the term 'gorm' in old Northern England was used to describe a foolish person. As in 'Bruce is a gorm'. However, it seems to also be used to mean a trait which would be described as attentive and alert. As in 'Bruce has his gorm on.
With this in mind, as Bruce the gorm's wife has lost him, she could be said to be gormless or without an idiot.

On the other hand, If Bruce has become gormless, the meaning could be that he has ceased to be attentive and alert.
As in 'Bruce had 4 pints and is now totally gormless'.
I do suspect the latter is the meaning of the word in Jimbo's post!

I dunno! Ask Jimbo as he is an advisor. Do catch him as he has his gorm back, though!

Yes, that's what happened to me too. It probably depends on which password manager you are using. I've got Roboform.

What I did was delete straightrazorplace from the logins in the password manager, go to the login page of straightrazorplace, fill in the username and password and tick the "remember me" box and then, before hitting the "login" button, saved that in the password manager by hitting the "Save" button.

That worked, I can now login via the password manager again.

I got managereal skills, so I do my own passwords.
the key to a good password is picking something easy & simple that you deal with everyday, that way you don't forget it,,, like your middle name or your first name with your birthday attached, in case someone knows your first name.

In fact, gorm derives from the old Norse word gaum which means, to the best of my understanding (my old norse is a bit rusty) "thermal underwear". And, as we all know, wandering out into the wilds of Old Norse without your thermal underwear is one of the classic blunders, the most famous of which is "Never get involved in a land war in Asia".

Anyway, over time gaum-less (lacking thermal underwear) turned into gormless, and the meaning drifted from the literal to the figurative - let's face it, wandering around without thermal underwear in Old Norse is a particularly stupid thing to do.

So back to gormless, particularly 'gormless twit'. If a bona-fide twit were to go gormless, could he not be said to be a gormless twit and just a twit as he regained his gorm?

Adversely, if someone went gormless and became a twit as a result, he may well not be a full-time twit as he reverts back to non-twit status as he gets his gorm back.

I cannot say, but I feel you have been too hard on yourself, Jimbo! Another pint is in order!
