Words like mandatory sound a little totalitarian like donch'a think ? We're a friendly site here and brought together to discuss things in like as if we were all in a room together. Doesn't mean I should be mandated to give out my address. Just ask a friendly request and you'll get friendly replies.

Although it makes it easier to help someone some people may not want the world to know what town they are from or possibly hold a job that requires anonymity especially in small towns. In the end if an address were required it would be impossible to enforce since somebody could just put in a random town and there would be no way to verify it.
