    Nothing wrong with asking.
Sure, seems ok to me. What can it hurt? If nothing comes of it, you may have just made the guys day by coveting his goods.
I do think of a fun post I made once of some museum grade razors that I said I got at a one table yard sale. I got a very polite PM axing me if perhaps I might just want to let go of those razors for double what I paid for them...I said I paid $75.00 for them

Well Tom, it might be difficult to ascertain whether someone likes/needs something they possess more than I do.
I'm going to try it though: PM to Dude...Dude, I'm not going to mince words here Dude. I like that razor you posted. In fact I'm pretty sure I like it more than you do. Be willing to bet money on that....whaddya say? Bet you half a yard that I like it more than you....I'd bet you half a yard that I need it more than you too, but I wouldn't want to take all your munny.

Harold, get back over here, so we can prove that derailing a thread, can be saving a thread.

But is that not how the classifieds work?

    Dear OP --

We have that in the classifieds. We also have some "vendors" who are not...who say, "look at this my latest masterpiece which someone bought"...there may be another one ...buyer beware. And we have members who are vendors who have websites where they sell, who never mention them. And we have people, who were described in an earlier post, who if PM'd to say "if you ever see another one of those, I'm looking for one like it" will answer...and some who don't.

Anyway, I think the point is that this is mostly an "information exchange" brotherhood (with, occasionally a sister) who swap opinions, pictures, preferences and techniques that MAY or may not lead to an exchange of goods or services with or without money being involved.

    It's called FRIENDSHIP.

For just selling/buying there are the classifieds, which are rich with bargains, finds, and exchanges. Look it over, every day.

Otherwise, there is eBay, where prices are bid up ^^^^^.

Go to the classifieds, or go to eBay, but this thread's point is and always has been lost on me.

    Howz that Bill?
    Just call me Harold

Yes but i agree with him it's much more enjoyable personally buying/selling through threads. I am not sure what the OP is saying about high end items.. I don't think that's a good idea. Too open to interpretation...

I long for the day the classifieds disappears and we go back to the old Buy-Sell-Trade forum format.

People in hell want ice water.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
