That just bumps a thread to the top in its forum section and doesn't place it on the front page of the site

Everyone interacts differently with the site, some people start from the front page, some people go to the main forum listing, some people follow a bookmark, etc.
It's just something that will be seen by those who go to the front page which is not too small a fraction of our traffic

Along with SOTD there could be BOTD.

A really cool, interesting , or educational thread that has been buried the the multitude of others.

    Thank's Gugi.

Once I read about your putting a very good thread on the front page I also made a post on FB with a link to it.

I plan on spending some time on this tomorrow. Saturdays are my "rest and recover days".

I think I will start with the "Stroptober" suggestion. Then I will be asking various people for their input on very good threads.
