That just bumps a thread to the top in its forum section and doesn't place it on the front page of the site
Everyone interacts differently with the site, some people start from the front page, some people go to the main forum listing, some people follow a bookmark, etc.
It's just something that will be seen by those who go to the front page which is not too small a fraction of our traffic
