Thanked: 2209Front page for good threads ....
Please, would someone tell Gugi I like what he is doing with the front page.
The idea of promoting first class threads to the front page is a good one.
Perhaps it is time to start putting other really good threads on the front page no matter how old they are ?Randolph Tuttle, a SRP Mentor for residents of Minnesota & western Wisconsin

The 1000.00 vs 50.00 shave was a good one too. Explains you don't need to buy the 500 dollar razor to get started.

Thanked: 2209Does anyone else have some sort of list of useful/interesting threads ?
Maybe "Blasts from the past !" ?
I do remember a post from a number of years ago from a very talented member who made a set of scales that looked like a violin!
Then there was also a member who made a set of nickel silver(?) pierced scales.
Anyone have more memories , links ?Randolph Tuttle, a SRP Mentor for residents of Minnesota & western Wisconsin

Criteria might be: the total number of likes and thanks that a thread has gathered divided by the number of posts to get an appreciation per post ratio.

My memory is about as long as your.... well nevermind that. Ha. Im going to try and do a little searching for good threads. If we get somekind of responce from gugi on this. He might not want to go this way. Or maybe he does. The idea is sound to me. Threads that will make newbies want to learn more on this hobby of ours.

Thanked: 4826There are a few in the honing section. This one has quite a few good pictures that are not crazy close microscope pictures.

For micro bevels there is this one

This one has helped me earlier on

Most of my bookmarked threads are about honing. There have been others. geezer did one once about a two legged parser. He also did one about inexpensive restoration tools. I think Charlie did one about making scales with hand tools. I cannot search with this device and I did not bring my laptop so memories of past threads is as good as I can do for now. It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

I think it's a great idea! Let's get a few people who would do this and I'll set the relevant permissions and show you how to do it

So are you thinking of a Super Sticky Section?

That's a good way to put it as it's very similar - promoting/highlighting interesting forum threads.
However, in this case the promotion wouldn't be to the top of the 'list of threads' but rather on the front page of the site itself - https://straightrazorpalace.com
It is the same as how we now have a daily 'featured SOTD' post, though I would imagine we'll group those in a different category/section(s)
You'd have one or few of them on the front page and all the rest would be still available to check out by clicking on the category/section link
