Downloading files when I view posts?
So I am a mobile user and sometimes when I view a post a file automatically downloads. When I click on the file I cant view it. I'm using a samsung s8 if that makes a difference. Just wondering what these files are. I delete them as I go and never visit the thread again which sucks because some of them are full of info. Just wondering if these are viruses are what.

I dont know. Cane imagine it being something on my end as all I'm doing is clicking on a thread. Not really a computer guy either, but it makes me hesitant to view the forum.

I only use my phone, as well. But I don't use the mobile app. I've never seen this problem.

I've posted about seeing this before (last summer or the one before possibly) when browsing the forum from either my HP laptop or iPad. This had been happening when I ran Chrome and now Opera. Visually, I see some phantom window attempt to pop up for a few milliseconds before disappearing.
FWIW, I run Bitdefender and up until 3-4 days ago Malwarebytes Plus (14-day free trial offer). Neither application found anything at fault with either SRP or anything that comes from the site.
Whatever is happening may be a web advertising element or who knows what, but from what I can tell, it's not doing sh!t. Anyway, this is how I'm seeing your issue. I've never followed up with an data inspection since I'm too lazy and there's software for that drudgery.
Here's the thread to which I'm referring above (scroll a ways down):

Not to worry.
It just sits innocently on your phone until a proper tone is received and then not only does it eat all the data on your phone but it physically turns the phone into a pile of goo.
