    Thumbs down Extremely Invasive Advertisements!

I am hesitant to think the operational staff here at SRP would intentionally allow such a thing. I do know this is the only site where I have this happen.

My browser keeps getting redirected not long after clicking a thread. Actually, it happened every other time I clicked ANYTHING related to my inbox/private messages yesterday! I had to have two tabs open just so I could reference the contents of a message with the "(un)read receipt".

The vast majority of these redirects are either to the Google Play store website, and a few have opened the Google Play store app itself (my primary computational device is an Android phone, and I prefer full/desktop website eversions through Chrome browser).

I have Pop-ups blocked by default... with the only exceptions being SRP, and a government site (I think it was necessary for BMV online renewal stuff...). I also have "Do Not Track" checked, just in case.

I will post a few of the URL's for these pests, not automatically parsed, so you have more detailed information.

The following are from roughly the last 48 hours:

i keep getting told the security certificate for this site is not to be trusted or something like that and wants me to look at the certificate like i would know wth i was looking at. Then i keep getting redirected to amazon or a survey or some crap like that. Very annoying and might have to go somewhere else for a few months

I forgot to mention that this has been a recent issue for me; it only started to happen in the last 3-6 weeks (I think, mostly ignored the first couple of times it happened).

If you are using Mozilla Firefox you can go to Mozilla Add-ons and install No-Script. This will block all java script from running on any site you go to. You will have a bar at the bottom of your screen giving you the option to temporally allow some, or all scripts, or permanently allow. Most sites won't work without some allowed, and on trusted sites, where you do business or whatever, it may be more convenient to make permissions permanent.

If you're on Chrome, or (heaven forbid) Internet Explorer you're on your own.

Nope, not on Firefox. Useful tidbit, either way.

SRP has nothing to do with this. As far as I know, we run google ads, meaning that google decides what to insert there, based on what they know about your browsing behavior or what you clicked. We are nowhere involved in that.

Last week I checked which flights I could take to a couple of US friends I plan to visit in February, and immediately after I saw ads for those flights in facebook, SRP, and any other site that ran ads. Again, we are not involved.

Crawler, you've got an adclick malware program that has infected your computer.
Go to Malwarebytes - Free download and software reviews - CNET Download.com , click on the green button labeled "Download Now Secure Download" and run the program. It will remove the offending malware.

Nodakjohns, yours is a spyware issue. Malwarebytes above will also take care of it.

I have never had a "re-direct" to an advertisement since I've been here. I do see advertisement in the banner for sites that I shop at. I just ignore them.

Another thing is that I run Linux, not windows, so that may be less prone to malware and such.
