Thanked: 328All of those are good suggestions.
Quick.. It sounds like you have Java issues. reinstalling or upgrading Java should fix that. You can also download any IRC client (Chatzilla, MIRC). I'm sure some other favorites will be posted here. Anyone can PM me if they need any direct troubleshooting.
Thanks

Well, I got "no connection: null" all last night in the IRC Chat - tried upgrading java, and still nothing - I wasn't behind a firewall, so I have no idea what I was doing wrong
I was so frustrated, I even read the Help file!

Thanked: 328Hmmm... try and IRC client like MIRC, X-Chat or CloneZilla (If you use Mozilla)? Any of those acceptable?
Thanks

Thanked: 271I had that problem and solved it but I lost the solution in a computer crash. Basically, my problem was that the chat software was using a channel that my PC (an Acer laptop) had reserved. You have to configure the chat software to use a different channel that is open. You have to find it by trial and error.
I wish I could be more specific but I don't remember all the details.

Thanks guys - I'll give it a try as soon as I can get a free moment to see if I can get in and I'll report back.

Thanked: 1587You can try Mibbit as a temporary thing. I use it at work where they have blocked the irc ports. Just choose "freenode" from the IRC drop down menu, type your nickname in the "nick" box (can be whatever you want within reason), and type #srp into the "channel" box. Click "go" and you should be good.

Thanked: 77It seems I have both the problems above, periodically. I usually end up closing all the IE (tabbed) windows I have open, go to the Java website and do the check which tells me I have the latest Java version installed, close browser, open browser, SRP and chat works... Usually for days. No idea which one of those steps clears the problem.
