I didn't say it was the same in regards to actual usage. I was saying that the very function of the +1 and -1 might be the same in terms of coding as the thanks version we see, just without the -1 part and with a different "skin", making itsay "Thanks: #". And what I was wondering was how hard it would be to make those things work together at the same time, if possible.
Btw that board has a -1 / +1 function instead and that guy is not entirely popular.Last edited by Chady; 11-07-2008 at 09:29 PM.

Thanked: 328It's a fantastic idea, mainly because it's something I've been thinking about.
I'll add it in this weekend.. (I think Don and I had talked about it awhile back)..\

Thanked: 1587I thought we had a plus one button -> shift= and 1? No one in this thread, including the OP, seems to have any trouble doing it.

Jimbo, I think that the reasoning behind such a feature would be "screen real estate". If you have thirty people adding posts that say only "+1", then you would have two pages of nothing but "+1". If you have a +1 button, all you would need to see would be a little text box under the original post showing all the people who have +1'ed the original post.
That way we can all get on to reading relavent material rather than just seeing a post that says +1.
BTW, "+1'ed" is now an official past tense verb as coined by me. All credit should be directed to this particular post in the etymological history sections of your preferred dictionary. Please make all ammendments to your dictionary within thirty days or the next full moon, whichever is earlier. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Well I have to say that I disagree. If the only sentiment that you have to offer is "+1," that is, that you agree with some other post, then what is the point in bothering to point it out? When someone agrees with a post, there may be some SLIGHT benefit to agreeing with it because it thereby in essence strengthens the contents of the post. However, the true benefit of someone agreeing with a post is when they actually ADD some kind of additional information, no matter how slight. I think that is the benefit of someone posting the fact that they agree--they are ADDING to the information, not just serving as a yes-man.
If you disagree with me, bugger off!
If you agree with me, then elaborate, don't just declare that you agree.
