And now for something completely different:

Here's some info on Heljestrand: History

I have quite a bit of information on J.G. Escher, that file is way to large to upload, contains pictures. If you like I can send it by regular e-mail. Unfortunately for most members it is mostly in German.

To cut a long story short: J.G. Escher & Soehne started in 1790, changed their name to JGES in 1920. In 1948 they started making toy cars as well. The toy cars are collectors’ items just as the hones! They were nationalized by the communist government in 1953 and became part of the VEB (= company owned by the people) Press- und Schleifmittel. Later the name changed to Fabrik Plastawerke Sonneberg, Betrieb Theuern. In 1991 after the reunification of Eastern and Western Germany it was sold to Hummel & Mann makers of filters and parts for the automotive industry.

Right. Heljestrand is now done: Heljestrand, C. V - Straight Razor Place Wiki. - I simply looked up Heljestrand here: Property:Manufacturer - Straight Razor Place Wiki, then clicked on its red link. It's a regular link now, obviously. Filled in the form in 20 seconds, done. Thanks for the link!

Escher we do not have yet. If you or somebody else think a database of hones to be worthwhile, come to the chat and let us discuss this.

But now you have the historical info on Haljestrand between descriptions itself. Doesn't the history of a company belong in a different chapter like the Henckels stuff?

Not quite sure yet. The SRDB is a moving target, and we improve it as we go along. Project management is for wimps!

If you have any suggestions for improvement, the chat is always a good place to start. See you there!
