Hello Bruno, I am not interested in any of the options you mentioned.
Just a forum is fine, I am spending too much time on SRP as it is. DON'T TEMPT ME.Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose. Jean-Baptiste Alphonse Karr.

In terms of supporting the site and making sure it remains a going concern in future, yes I would pay/contribute. But I don't think the promise of value-add would persuade me. I.e. if it's a case of "this site needs support to continue" then tell me where to sign, but if it's to fund expansion of the current functions then I would probably politely decline.
Cheers
M.

Thanked: 171Took the words out of my mouth. I'm not personally interested in any of the additional features you've mentioned, but if needed, I'd be more than happy to contribute to help support and maintain the features we already have.
Actually, if the consensus of the group is that these additional changes are desired, and funding is needed, I'd be interested in helping the greater good of the community also.Last edited by pjrage; 04-06-2009 at 07:41 PM.

I've seen it work and I've seen it not work. Depends on the crowd. Oneupsmanship is a helluva fundraising tool. One site I was a member of managed to buy half a rackful of servers using this technique. If SRP can upgrade by appealing to our vanity, why not?
Also, you say it backfired. Please clarify, I'm not sure what you mean. Did the sites in question lose money somehow?

Yes, for sure.
I'm not terribly interested in a blog, but I'd love to have JimmyHAD's honing journal (and those of others) in a place where I could access it

None of the ideas mentioned appeal to me, personally, but as long as it doesn't affect the current forums, I see no reason not to try something.

Thanked: 41I will not use any of the paid additions. I will however contribute to the support of this site with my dollars. If I do, I don't want to be part of the "Paid" membership. I would prefer to be a supporter or contributor because I appreciate what this site is offering to me and others of like interest. Can we have that option? An easy way to support this site by monitary contributions without getting anything else that we don't already have. And also I feel that there is no reason to announce to anyone who it is that contributes.
