Thanked: 151I think this is a good idea. I would gladly pay $20/year although I am cheap and would probably do the $100 for 5 years. I do want to say one thing though. If I was able to get a blog and an email for that price that would be great. But, I would want it to where anyone could email me at the address because I have sold razors to people who just browse and don't have an account here. But, I know the site costs someone and I would gladly pay to have a blog among other things here so that I don't have to maintain 2 sites. My only hope is that people who don't want to pay can have access to the people who do pay. I hate exclusive clubs and this site has come great members who although they never meet in person, they can share advice and experience.

Thanked: 151I love the site, but the left lobe of my liver is already sold to pay back med school loans so thats not an option right now. Both kidneys are doing well, but I would have to get major perks (such as unlimited supply of free W&B choppers to restore for myself) and would have to have my name and picture displayed on the homepage until my death.
Just kidding, but I voted yes and have no problem contributing.

I voted yes as i have no problem suppurating the site. Issues i would have is with "special forums and content for paying subscribers" the forum would likely suffer if there were locked rooms that you needed to pay to enter... quite likely there would be less interaction between the subscribers and say the newbie with the 105 questions we have all answered a 1000 times. they might just get lost and never learn the proper joy of a straight razor shave.
To an extent that happens now when instead of giving people an answer we refer them to the wiki.
Badges... we don't need no stinking badges! it should be enough to know that you have a vested interest in the site without it needing to be highlighted for others to see.
blogs... they are for people who should be out looking for work!
another email address.. was this not tried several years ago and found to be underused?
more photo space... believe it or not there are still photo-hosting sites.
keeping SRP a friendly place where people can ask pretty much any question and receive a timely answer or even three mutually exclusive different answers. is a good thing.
so the next thing is what do you plan on doing when you need to ban a paying member?Be just and fear not.
