Razors on the Classifieds
I'm sure this topic has been brought up before, but what's the deal with the "Sold" razors on the classifieds. What is the reason they stay there?
Lately, buying a razor on the classifieds is an exercise in futility. You'd have better luck winning Lotto. It's wonderful that SRP allows members to sell items free of charge. I was on the classifieds just before this post going through page and page of sold razors....Once the item is sold, The add should be removed by the seller, or auto deleted in 24 hours. IMHO....We have assumed control !

Thanked: 151It has been brought up again and again. I blame the moderators and sellers. When I sell an item, I delete it. The only reason I leave an ad is because I forgot to delete. I think many sellers leave them because they are either too busy, or wish to use the ad as advertising. This needs to be addressed definitively I believe, and if necessary only allow sellers a maximum of 3 ads so that one seller does not run a razor in the ads for two weeks after it has sold.
THanks for bringing this up again because it seems the answers are to either charge, moderate, or do anything but create an automatic delete system for sold razors.
Hopefully it will be addressed at some point and end the huge numbers of sold razors by sellers too self involved to take the time to delete the ads.

Thanked: 41I was under the impression that the sold ads were left up so that interested parties could review the ads to see what sold and how much it sold for. I for one look at the sold ads every now and again. Perhaps instead of deleting them they could be auto archived into a sold section only.

I understand the frustration, but I do like to be able to look through the listings to be able to see what certain types of razors have sold for. I'm hoping that instead of deleing the ads we might be abel to archive them once items have been sold in order to have the past sales amounts as reference points.
(DOH! mkevenson beat me to my comment!)

That's a valid point, Wanting to see what items sold for. Why not have something like an Archive. When an item sells, The add gets moved to the archive for future reference. That way, you have pure unadulterated razor adds, minimal frustration while looking, and your able to see what sold for what.....

Thanked: 234I do that as well, I hadn't actually thought about it until you mentioned it.
Really, as soon as they're sold they could be archived, the trouble is it's not always simple to set up something like that.
It might be simpler to rank the ads differently in the classifieds, instead of going purely on date, rank them primarily on the sale status, if it's still for sale it stays at the top. Would it be possible to do something like that?
Just checked to make sure you can't do that manually, and you can do highest and lowest first, but 'sold' does not null and void the price.Last edited by gregs656; 05-05-2009 at 10:15 PM.

When I look for razors in the classifies now, I don't even look at what kind it is, I look to the right first to see if it's Sold or not. No sense if getting my hopes up. Even if it's not sold, Sometimes your too late. Gugi had a Duck for sale, I pm'd him and it was too late.
That's another thing, Guys have WTB adds up, 9x out of 10, They do no good. I'vd had WTB Wonderedge or Satinedge, or wedge up for ever, There's probably been 50 of them go through the adds that I've missed. You have to have excellent timing to score a nice vintage blade on our classifieds....We have assumed control !
