    Looks like a problem at your end to me. For serious use, I would strongly recommend a dedicated client program. Setup instructions can be found here: Using the SRP Chat - Straight Razor Place Wiki. Pidgin has the advantage of being available as a Portable App for Windows based computers: PortableApps.com - Portable software for USB drives.

    It didn't even occur to me to look there for help with the chat.
