Thanked: 3Classifieds: Condition grades?
Hi--I couldn't find an answer to this, and (admittedly) it is subjective anyway, but...in looking at razors, I see ratings such as fair, good, great, and excellent. Are there published criteria for how to judge the condition? Poor, fair, and good are pretty obvious, but is great better than excellent, or vice versa?
Thanks,
Stuart

I'd just ask for better pictures
Find me on SRP's official chat in ##srp on Freenode. Link is at top of SRP's homepage

every seller puts the grading they're comfortable with, so the variations are huge.
i do them in the order of the drop down menu
excellent > great > good > fair > poor
for example, i don't call it great or excellent if the blade is pitted, but that doesn't seem to be the norm.
in any case i take pictures with proper exposure so that the condition is clear, and that's the most important part.
you can always ask the seller for more pictures and clarification.

Thanked: 1371It seems that someone did try to standardize those terms at one time, but it never caught on.
It would be difficult to eliminate any subjectivity there.
I always try to get pictures that show all the flaws, and describe in detail anything that is "wrong" with the razor.

Thanked: 3795Well, that's likely because the terms used in the Wiki don't match with the drop down list, so they would be impossible to follow.

Thanked: 1936I think you will find that most of the sellers will appraise a item they are selling equal to or actually downgrade the rating on the item. No true gentleman will sell you something that it is NOT.
