I don't really care if I have to wade through sold items or not. But I was always curious as to why the sold items remain posted and marked sold instead of being deleted? I that so people who were monitoring them as potential purchase know that the item is no longer available? I guess it is also good to know the price an item sold for when trying to buy one outside of the classifieds.

    Hmmmmm - am I correct?

The current format is OK with me. There are times I need a price comparison and if its sold you can click to see how much it sold for. You can get a good idea of the price of something you are wanting to buy or sell.

    If it ain't broke..................

A little bit of it is by design, the sold items remain for a week so that the buyer and the seller can have a reference to the ad when the buyer receives the item, just in case there are questions of what was actually promised. (Of course the seller can delete the ad before then if they wish, which in my opinion is imperfect, but for now workable solution.)

This being said, the classifieds software is really messy and with very limited options, so the things we have common complaints about are (1) not possible by configuration in the software (2) apparently not worth the time of any of the developers to implement (after all they are all volunteers with other things to do as well).

The best we can do at this point, is move to a newer version of the software and this will probably happen relatively soon, where we may have more setup options (and the code I believe was cleaned up, so may be development can be easier). Or if there's somebody good at programming (php/sql) with free time on their hands and interest in adding some functionality, I'm sure the dev team would welcome them.

We will put together an steering committee to generate case studies and focus groups on the proper architecture of classifieds system on a shaving forum in a web 2.0 world. I expect a very quick turnaround. Results should be available by first quarter 2013 at which point we can put together a design team and start planning implementation.
i Will hand it to you ur like me straightfoward and to the point. I honestly think that people take this great site for granted, they dotn realize what it takes just to keep this site on its feet.

Ps. I will deffintiyl sign up for the committee.

Thanks again for all the effort that goes into making this site what it is.

Thank you for taking the time to make that clear. Best explaination and everybody should be more than satisfied with it. If there are still questions at this point, I can't imagine what more could be done.

    Thumbs up

I can focus pretty well if I close one eye and have opinions on nearly everything so I'm available to help the design by committee effort.

Gotta say, I like the setup as it is. Things stay up for a while, I can peruse them and see how many hits they got, what they went for, and pictures of nice razors. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
