Thanked: 44...I have to say on this subject, that I think there are people on this forum with their "finger on the button," and are more ban-happy than they should be. Also, these bans seem to be permanent, when there should really be some other penalty, some temporary ban, put in place instead. I have a friend who was a member on here who got banned, and when he showed me the correspondence leading to the ban, I can't say it was anything other than a trivial reason.

Most bans are temporary in nature. Anything from 3 days (at one end) and 3 months (rarely, and at the other end).
The thing with temp bans is this: they expire. So the people get back. So over time the only people who have the banned moniker are the ones who are banned for life. Even if only 1 ban in 10 is permanent (I really have no idea) over time, 95% of all visible bans will be the permanent ones.
Bans are generally also not the decision of 1 single person. It gets discussed up front and is very rarely decided in a couple of minutes / posts.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

I played in a banned in high school. Does that count for anything?

This is an important factor in the moderators work.
I wouldn't even consider being part of the mod team if this wasn't true.
So, while things may seem a bit strange at times, from the outside, no bans are implemented without prior discussions between available team members.
This ensures, to me at least, a certain level of objectivity in the decision and avoids personal issues that may occur between staff and members.Bjoernar
Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....

Thanked: 1587Since this seems to be causing confusion, here's a simple rule to live by on any forum, this one or others. Read the forum rules and don't break them!
Seriously, it is not hard: you break the rules regularly enough or badly enough you get banned. You agreed to this when you signed up to the forum. Snivelling about it doesn't make it less true. Man up and move on.

Thanked: 13249
Really ???
Considering I know exactly who you are talking about, and exactly why he was banned, and exactly how many warnings he was given before he was banned all 3 times, for breaking the exact same rules each time he was banned, you would have thought he would have realized that he was being warned multiple times, and to perhaps fly a bit lower under the radar.. Instead of voicing his opinion against the mods and the rules, to the multiple Mods that warned him multiple times.... You might want to ask him about the other PM's he got that he obviously didn't show you and paid no attention to .... Trust me here, I know precisely which member you are talking about in fact I think he was given one last shot at being a member on SRP...
You of course can PM me if you perhaps have more to say about this MemberLast edited by gssixgun; 09-29-2012 at 10:32 PM.

In all honesty, I find that the mods here are more leniant than ones on other sites. I've said things here that would have, and did, get me banned in a heartbeat on other sites. Here, when my fingers out-type my brain, I've always been given the chance to rectify the situation, and I thank the mods for that.

You know, when I first joined this forum I honestly had no idea who was mods and who were members. If it wasnt for the titles on the forum tab I probably still wouldn't know, so it is not like we have power hungry giants in charge. So far I haven't been banned, so somebody must be doing something right ... Or wrong
