Thread: Saving cream vs soap

With soaps, I usually melt (if the soap is melt-able) the soap into the mug and let it solidify. Then when I shower, I put scalding hot water int the mug with the brush. When i get out of the shower, the soap is soft and it only takes about 3-4 whirls of the brush to load it and it lathers nicely on my face.
The scandal is that almost any soap, even the much-maligned Van Der Hagen, will lather up like a dream if you do this.
I've been straight-shaving now for 3 years or so, and one thing I notice is that I use WAY LESS soap or cream than when I started out. For creams, really only a plug about the size of the last joint of your pinky should be plenty. Soak the brush in hot water while showering or washing your face or whatever, dab the cream on the brush, and lather it right on your face. Fast, effective, works.

Thanked: 3I have been using soaps for as long as I can remember, the best one for me is Tabac, very easy to lather, very slick and I happen to like the scent
