Here is my method for MWF. I grate the refill puck into a 1 cup pyrex container, which I keep sealed when not in use. I soak my brush a couple of minutes, then shake out the bulk of water. I then "overload" the brush to the point that I'm able to get a ping pong ball size of lather in my scuttle. After this I reload the brush and go to the bowl and mix like crazy. The whole process takes 90 seconds at the most and yields a great lather.

For me at least, MWF has just a very clean, old school soap smell to it (kind of like the bars of Ivory shower soap). Clean and sort of powdery (Ivory soap and Johnson's Baby Powder) Nothing thick or overpowering just a very nice clean scent. I don't think I've ever heard anyone object to the smell of MWF.
