It does well like you found out for yourself. I tried it by itself the first time I used it and did not like it at all. Then I figured I would use it like a would a cream for an uberlather and added some veggie glycerin to it as well and it works well like that. The only thing that I really don't like about it is the smell, it's too bright for me. I like my spicier scents. If they made it unscented to go with my clove and vanilla soap then I would probably keep using it. I do use african black soap for bathing from the same company and the smell of the bar soap is totally different and more agreeable with my preferences. I have been thinking about buying one of there bars and turning it into a shave soap but I haven't figured out how to get the exfoliating crap out of it yet.

Thanked: 1184So . It wasn't a blunder after all ! We will take that 1 off your permanent record. :<0)
Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

Good Morning to all. I as well purchased the African Black Soap at my local Target and used it for the first time this morning with a 4 day growth. I will agree with all others it does not lather well at all. The shave was ok it smells nice but it definitely has a more butter feel than a cream. I got a nice smooth shave with the product. If you are looking for a nice lather then stay away but it does cover well just no lather. This is just my two cents you fellows have a nice day.
Who Dares Wins.

Thanked: 4I purchased a tub of it awhile back because I use their body wash and really like the moisturizing affect. I don't like lotions on my skin so this was a way of dealing with dry skin during the winter months. I haven't been a big fan of soft soaps/cremes because I just couldn't get them to perform as well as harder soaps. In talking the wet shaving with my step son, who does use cremes, I made a note that he doesn't apply much to the brush...... I tried it and have been using my stock of cremes since. I was just loading too much on the brush and not whipping up a good lather, it just stayed creamy and clogged my DE. That worked for the cremes, now I have to try this new technique regarding this butter. Thanks guys! G
I've thought about all the posts I've made during this journey and the improvements/skills I'm learning. I've read it here before but until I caught myself actually doing the same thing..... as you improve, what didn't work yesterday might work like a dream today. Whether it is soap, blade, brush, etc.... this can all be a moving target for a long, long time.
