First use of this soap for me this morning, and I too had extreme difficulty removing the lid. For whatever reason I was expecting something stronger in the scent department. From the tin itself I would class this soap as virtually unscented, however, once lathered up there is a faint herbal scent which I find quite pleasing. I bought mine from Barbiere di Figaro. A spanish friend has told me that he has bought two, one from BdF, the other direct. The direct one has a much stronger scent apparently. Whether this is purely down to batch variability, I do not know.
I have bought MdC in the past, twice, and on both counts sold them soon thereafter. Reason? Whilst there is no disputing MdC lathers incredibly easily, I have always found it lacking in post shave quality, leaving my skin feeling dry. Le Pere Lucien is just as easy to lather as MdC but also scores well for me on the after feel. I would pick this soap over MdC any day of the week (YMMV).

David, thank you for posting. When new craft made soaps come along I always have a pause because you never know whether they are alright or stinkers. I have used plenty of the latter. This one is getting near universal praise on all the major forums. Now I have another one on my watch list.

As far as I am aware, the soap can only be bought on this side of the Atlantic at the moment. I bought mine from Barbiere di Figaro.
You can also email him direct which I believe is this: lepere.lucien@gmx.com

    Gentlemen,
Did I see the shipping to the U.S. from Barbiere de Figaro at a whopping $30? I paid that much shipping for my first Martin de Candre and am not about to repeat it with Le Pere Lucien. Or am I not reading the shipping charge correctly? As for Martin de Candre, my dear brother brought me two more tubs from Paris, so I'm set into the next century. Now, as you gather, I lust after Le Pere Lucien, but the $30 shipping charge gives a fever.

I get the same amout for shipping, the link provided on post #4 of this thread was a much better alternative, but looks like he is out of stock. Perhaps you could write him and see if he will get more, i know you can be on a waiting list.

    Martin,
I chatted with Jason about the soap. He said he had written the producer of it and received no response. He, therefore, doubts he will carry the soap. By the way, fine fellow, this Jason.
Incidentally, a dear SRP friend is sending me a tin of Le Pere Lucien.
    Stay well.
