I received my PL soap yesterday and took it for a spin today. In short, this stuff is the bomb. It lathers very easily and the volume of lather is beyond ample. The lather is thick and dense and can take a lot of water. Its also really slick. But the question everyone will want to know is how it stacks up against MDC. Is it better? Maybe. I mean you're splitting hairs here at this point (no pun intended). Its like asking if a Ferrari is better than a Lamborghini. At this level of quality, personal preference casts the deciding votes. The scent is slightly different from MDC, perhaps a little minty but you're in the same neighborhood. The lather is just as generous as MDC but its different in that its heavier. Maybe I short changed it on the water but it didn't seem to stand up like a whipped cream the way MDC often does. But I also found it to be more protective than MDC. There was some serious cushion here. It also seems to leave MY skin a little more hydrated than MDC but after only one use, its hard to say for sure. If you DON'T already have MDC and wondered what the fuss was all about, you might give this stuff a try. The shipping on MDC may have scared you off but this stuff can be had from US vendors. In fact, I see that there is an option to buy just the soap at razorbladesandmore.com for $15.99. It seems to me to be the same league with MDC, Xpec, and Penhaligons. Each of these soaps is different from one another but they represent the cream of the crop in my opinion. I feel Pere Lucien fits into this group as well. Is it better than MDC? You'll have to decide for yourself. But I doubt you'll be disappointed.
