... Colleen, how are we progressing with getting back to you with our test results? With the exception of Rich, we've had about 3-weeks to evaluate, so things should be wrapping up I'd think. To cut to the chase... there's 6 of us... how many reports do you have so far?

Have you received any of the bottle samples you've been waiting for?

What's the status on the label design?

    I'm here!

Lets start with last first. No I haven't received my samples yet......
which is frustrating to say the least. I really thought they would be here by now, and every time I hear a vehicle come down our little street I run to the window to see if it's the delivery man.

As far as Label design goes......a little hard to proceed without a choice of bottle, but the basics are as follows.

I think that the SRP Logo should be the "Label". I personally like the Black & Gold coloring. ( very classy ) A line of text underneath that says "Private Stock"

Let me try something here, as far as layout goes. ( and Noam feel free to jump in with ideas or opinions ) Imagine a label that is a rectangular shape that lays horizontally. The center would carry the SRP Logo, dead center beneath that it would say "Private Stock".........dead center beneath that in smaller letters it will state the "Net Weight & Fl. oz. "

Then you will have negative space on either side of this, and then a small band on either side where additional can be placed.......such as " Commando Aftershave", when you need something to cool those hot spots. ( thought I forgot didn't you.... ) Created exclusively for Straight Razor Place.....hmmmm....and what else Then on the other side it would have Produced and Distributed by TGQ 106 Charles St. Beckley, WV 25801 www.thegentlemensquarter.com

I'm going to try and "Dot" this label out so you have an idea of what I'm talking about. The 8 is text surface area. The.............are dead space.

In the center column the text/logo is written horizontally, on the side bars the text is vertical. BUT, this type of label only works on round bottles. If we go with a flat bottle, it will need to have two labels......one for the front and one for the back. Its not necessary for the front and back labels to be the same size, but it is FDA regulation that at minimum you must include: WARNING not for human consumption or keep out of reach of children ( and these days Pets Too) If you experience irritation with this product; discontinue use immediately

It also has to have space to list the ingredients in descending order, which currently reads something like this:

Organic Aloe Vera juice, Distilled Witch Hazel, Essential oils of Blah, Blah, Blah, Polysorbate 20, Glycerin, Allantoin, Shea Liquid, Willow Bark Extract etc. etc.

and this is just one formula. Each reads differently according to the essential oils and/or Fragrance used, and/or whether there was alcohol used.

Now....who has turned in their Homework. Well, lets see.... Lynn has not turned his in, but he falls under exempt status. My theory is.....as long as Lynn doesn't say no, that means he saying YES I have recieved varying comments/reports from Ed, Randy, Rich, Richard, Noam, Joe and one thumbs up from Don. Actually I guess that's everyone.

Rich will probably receive his other experiment by tomorrow ( sorry late )

I do not have homework for ALL the different bottles.....just this one or that one.

Does this mean that we can start discussing the recent brews here in the open?

......and before anyone gets excited I just opened up the bill

This is not an actual bill but rather an estimate for orders that states a $745.00 minimum but the quantity looks like 80 pcs. I know thats not right! Hmmm......ok, logically the figure is 800 pcs. "Guffaw".....slaps knee, and if my Daddy was a glass maker I'd be sittin in high cotton

OK, I'm still not giving up just yet. I'll try to call tomorrow morning but its rather doubtful they'd be open, but still worth dialing the number. I'll take some pictures for you tomorrow. The bottles are VERY NICE clear flint glass, HEAVY.......which could be bad for shipping but they aren't likely to break either, not even if you dropped it on the floor.

Gentlemen.....I have another cracked tooth, and yes.....I take good care of my chompers. The Doc asked today, " Do you grind your teeth at night ? " and I said No.....no I do not. And then he said, " Do you clinch your teeth at night ?" and I said No, I don't. And he said, "Oh but Mrs. Hurley......I think you do, ( ) two cracked molars in the span of one year

Next Tuesday is my lucky day.

    Good Afternooon Gentlemen,

I am still waiting for a response from O.Berk regarding quantity, but I did find out that the figures were 80 pcs per carton, and $745.00 per thousand....shew! This is much better. BUT because it ships from a different warehouse there are restrictions on the Qty. The young lady is supposed to call me back with the minimum.

No....this does not mean I have chosen this bottle over any other.....just sharing the stats with you. In the meantime, I have attached photographs with a mock up for a label idea.

Please be sure to voice your opinion.

    OK, here's the scoop.......

The bottles are imported from Italy. They have limited stock, and I can order a minimum of 3 cases or 240 bottles which is very doable for me.

    XXWarm Regards, Colleen

    BIG thumbs-up on the bottles

Is that orifice reducer molded or inserted?

    Cheers,

    Afternoon Gents!

The Bottle is all one peice of glass, there is no insert to come loose.....it is all heavy molded glass, "from Italy"....lol....

I'm pleased that so far the comments are good. I wish you could see them in person as the pictures don't quite do them justice, and too it's important to keep in mind that my labels are cut outs of printer paper.

I've also spent hours and hours looking at digital print companies for the labels ( and for TGQ labels ) and low and behold the one company I had thought to use....I don't see there addy....Jimminy Crickett!!! But there are others such as this one www.lightninglabels.com The goal here is to look for companies who will do short runs, as there is no way of knowing at this stage of my business which products are keepers for the long haul, so there is no need to have 10,000 labels printed for one item.

And this is also where Noam comes in. I can't recall if Noam ever received a proper introduction.....but I'll start, He's Tall, Dark and Handsome ...... Actually I have no idea, but I do know that he is a 6th year Art Major, graduated from UCLA ( can't remember ) and has spent the past year in NY at Parson's. So Rich, Noam is in your neighborhood somewhere.

Noam also understands computers, pixells and graphic design......all of which I know nothing, or only enough to get my self into trouble Digital print companies require their information in that "other" language.

It has been my task to put forth some measure of what is inside my brain as far as label design goes, but truthfully after canning 3 or 4 ideas, I really think that the SRP Logo looks very nice, and the colors are excellent. Black and Gold is classy, and timeless.....two very important aspects of the design. Sometimes "less is more" in design and I think it lends to the overall masculine feel.

Now all that said, Noam can take what he sees here on the screen and tweak it a bit on his nifty software program. Clean it up, classy it up......It will be alot of fun to see what he comes up with. Ya know what though....it just occured to me that its Spring Break

As far as "these" bottles are concerned I have until Thursday to place my order, then my contact person will be gone for 2 weeks.....and yes, yes...I suppose I could order them from someone else but I don't want too, cuz he has this really cool jersey accent and he flirts with me on the phone.... chuckle.
