Thank you for your patience !! here I am 12 hours past my last post. The following is a list of essential oils used in each blend and the wholesale cost of the blend per oz. The Blends listed are the only ones that had any consistent "I like that" comments.

I am trying to work up cost based upon 1 gallon of finished Aftershave. Looking at labor and overhead, it's not practical to make the product in smaller quantities. Most of you have favored the higher ratio of Scent blend to the total oz of the product made. Our current ballpark figure is 10%

Just so y'all can begin to ponder over the numbers just in case I don't make it back until morning. 1 gallon = 128 oz. x 10% = 12.8 oz. of a scent blend.

#1 Peppermint ...................... Cost per oz. of Blend, wholesale..........$3.36
    Sandalwood
    Lavender 40/42
    Rosemary
    Bergamot

#3 Bay ...................... Cost per oz. of Blend, wholesale .........$3.40
    Lavender 40/42
    Lemon
    Lime
    Sweet Orange
    Petigrain

    #6 Cedar
    Frankincense
Lime ................Cost per oz of Blend, wholesale.......... $4.16
    Sandalwood (FO)
    Lemongrass

This does substitute Sandalwood FO over EO. If using the Essential oil the wholesale cost per oz. is $13.00

Scent O was a remix of #6 and the original is the preferred

Scent X was the same as #3

Numbers 7 and 8 were total Bombs

    Scent formula _ RED

Cedar ............................ Cost per oz. of Blend, wholesale $6.20
    Frankincense
    Clove
    Mandarin

    Scent formula_ CLEAR

Mandarin ............................ Cost per oz. of Blend, wholesale $4.00
    Petigrain
    Lavender F.F.
    Bitter Orange
    Lemon
    Bergamot

    Scent formula_ BLUE

Musk (FO) .................................. Cost per oz. of Blend, wholesale $4.23
    Peru Balsam
    Mandarin
    Petigrain
    Basil
    Rosewood
    Sandalwood (FO)

Again, if using real Sandalwood this would move the cost to approx. $13.80 per oz. and we won't even talk about the cost of real musk.

I'll be back after dinner, which means 8:30 or 9pm to give you at least a ball park figure for the finished product.

    XXWarm Regards, Colleen
I am only half way thru my figures, so I'll finish up in the morning.

    Good Morning Gentlemen,

I only have a moment, but wanted to say that apparently my pricing isn't so "out of the realm" of possibilities. My figures for a middle of the road "quality" Aftershave Lotion/Balm is $25.00. Just so you're not left hanging.......

Now.....the fun thing about having the website, Oye! I am open 24/7 and I have 10 more orders already this morning. I'll try to catch up later, but would like to hear any opinions on a $25.00 a bottle AS.

    XXWarm Regards, Colleen

That sounds quite reasonable to me. I usually pay from $50 to $100 for bottles of after shave/balm.

Well I am not sure. Crabtree & Evelyn Nomad aftershave balm goes for $25 and that is the most I will pay for any after shave product and remember C&E is a well known brand. You might need to charge less until you have a following on it.

I do tend to go for the high end stuff. I keep forgetting that because I'm single my budget constraints aren't the same as you married w/kids types. Oh well, someday I might find a woman who can put up with me.

That's what makes this place interesting. Different people different stages in life.

This makes me think you will need a marketing strategy. Who is your target market? I mean for some guys $25 or $30 might be the bottom end of their range while it is the top for me. You will need to think this through as where to advertise the after shave. A cheaper product could go by word of mouth or a free site, where a pricer product might need a note worth start.

Hey I am rambling, just some thoughts.

P.S. Remember I am on vicadin right now.. I had knee surgery last Wednesday so I might be shooting out of my hat..
