Thanked: 1I just finished a cake of Cedarwood/Lemon and loved it. I've got a Rosemary/Mint that I'm saving for warmer weather.

Thanked: 0OK wait
OK, after living with it for a while - I think the Masculine Musk is kind of well...unpleasant.
I recommend the Irish Tweed (smells like regular Mitchum deodorant), and the Ocean Rain smells nice. The Marauder's Citrus is nice too, but I haven't shaved with it - just smelled it a bunch. All of these are pretty "masculine" non-floral. I have the Leather, just haven't used it yet so I cannot comment. I have Lavender and Bonzai coming, will comment when they get to me.

Thanked: 0Hey MB, a question
I received the Lavender and Bonzai last night, shaved with the B this morning, and it is sweet - I think the last two will be my favorite flavors.
I have a question; I have gotten tubs with pucks in them and tubs with the soap poured in - and I was wondering if it was possible to put the bottom of the tubs in the microwave to melt the pucks into the tubs? I don;t want to melt these tubs, and I am not sure if they are microwave safe, or all the soaps for that matter?
Thanks!

NO LATHER!!!
I just bought two of Mamma Bears for a test, Sandalwood and Green Irish Tweed.
I started with the GIT. So far I am disappointed. I cant get it to lather. I left a small amount of water in it overnight after the first try to soften the soap.... Today, hardly any lather.
I whip and whip till the brush is actually cold on my face, then scrub and scrub on my face and barely get any lather.... you can clearly see the skin through a thin film.
Is this normal? what am I doing wrong?
Do any of you have the same trouble?
I haven't tried the sandalwood yet, Maybe I'll do it tomorrow.

What sort of brush are you using? I find that a pure badger works best with any soap.
Also, could it be that you have hard water? Is this well water without a softner? If that's the case, you may want to pick up some bottled water for shaving.
The lather you get from soap is going to be lighter than anything that comes out of a can, but any MB soap sould still be pretty thick.
I don't think I'd try that water thing overnight, I don't think it's necessary. Just soak the brush in some warm water for 20 minutes or so, then a little shake (maybe not) and start whipping up lather.
Lastly, take a look here at what you should be able to produce with Mamabear soap. I have around 12 of her soaps and they all lather the same.
Good Luck,
Fred

Thanked: 213Some have said they have had some luck with this, but I would not do this. I put it in a Pyrex measuring cup micro at 10 seconds burst keep a very close eye on it you want to get it out just when it melts. It will be about 160 degrees. Those tubs are rated 140-150 so if you are just at 160 you could be OK but what i do is keep it in the Pyrex cup and stir as it cools this was recommend from Coleen. then when it starts to thicken just pour it back into the container. I have done this with all my glycerin soaps I use my own containers for stacking and room. PS never do this to a milled soap that will be your reaction if you do.

cudahogs,
The sandalwood soap I purchased months ago on the net from another supplier lathers wonderfully. I Bought lthe two Mama's to replace what is now beginning to be used up.
This is my first time with mama's. I looked at your link and the suds you have in the picture are more like what my currently diminishing sandalwood soap is like.
The GIT from mamas just isn't lathering.... water hardness shouldn't make a difference if the first soap lathered so good. Neither should the type of brush (badger).
I'll try one more time but may end up contacting mama and asking whether this is common for GIT. I'lll try the sandalwood from mama before I contact them to be sure it isnt just the GIT.
