    2 things:

1 - load your brush more. make sure you got enough soap in it to produce as much lather as you desire. twist away on that puck with your wet brush till you get some lather built up and alot of soap up in there. enough soap is always paramount.

2 - use less water in your lather bowl. you can add 4-drops at a time till its producing lather like you want. remember alot of lather is in your brush, you do not need to fill your lather bowl. the point is to make thick, rich, creamy lather. twist and plunge that brush in the bowl and make your lather. your brush should almost suction to the bottom of the bowl when you reach thick lather.. if you got suction and not enough lather for your tastes, add a couple drops of water and start twisting again till you get that suction and re-evaluate the amount of lather. if you see bubbles in your lather its usually becuase of too much water - do more twists/plunges to thicken it up.... and use less water!

ps. if you move to your face and your lather is a tad runny from the water that was on your face, do some twists/plunges on the side of your cheek and that will thicken it up for ya.

I second suggestion number two above. Make sure the brush is holding water in and not between the bristles.

Lastly, if all else fails, contact Sue (Mama Bear). She has about as good of customer service as you'll find anywhere.

I finally got my first MamaBear product -- bought a "previously-owned" tub of her Chypre Rose shaving soap. What a beautiful smell... and the lather! To die for, darlings.

So, after getting a really great shave with it, I ordered a fresh tub, plus the matching Chypre Rose EDT and a bar of Issy's Rose & Pepper soap. They arrived yesterday (quickly, and well-packed). It's gonna be a knockout. Heads are gonna turn, when I go to the gym with a BBS face, smelling like a bloomin' garden (or someone who got lost on the way to a Queen concert).

Just remember, EAD: it takes a גבר ("real man") to wear rose.

I started with the GIT. So far I am disappointed. I cant get it to lather. I left a small amount of water in it overnight after the first try to soften the soap.... Today, hardly any lather.

I whip and whip till the brush is actually cold on my face, then scrub and scrub on my face and barely get any lather.... you can clearly see the skin through a thin film.

Is this normal? what am I doing wrong?

Do any of you have the same trouble?
Wet your brush with hot tap-water; wet, not dripping. Then, place the tip of the brush against the soap and, with light-to-medium pressure, make 40 clockwise swirls. Don't press so hard, dammit! Light-to-medium pressure.

When you're finished (and with your face wet -- you did prep it with a hot towel, right?), add a few drips of hot tap water to one edge of your shaving brush, and begin swirling it over your face, building a rich lather. Your cheeks and neck work best for building that lather, because they're larger areas, with no interfering landmarks (like your nose and lips).

Once your face is nicely lathered, put the brush down and, using your fingertips, rub the lather into your beard. Then put a hot towel on your face, and relax for about a minute. Now, add another few drips of hot tap water to one edge of your shaving brush, and re-lather your face.

Go shave; make your first pass. Then it's "rinse, lather, repeat" for that second and third pass.

Those 40 swirls should've transferred enough soap to your shaving brush to provide rich, moisturizing, lubricating lather for four-or-more passes.

No; the number "40" doesn't correspond to the number of days Moses was up on Mount Sinai, or the number of years the Hebrews wandered in the desert before entering Israel. It's just a nice round number. You can also do 20-swirls clockwise, then another 20-swirls counter-clockwise.

    Smooth shaving!
You can have everything, and still not have enough.
I'd give it all up, for just a little more.
