I too have a puck of it. Used it for my first few straight shaves and never had a problem with it lathering. I did soften it with hot water at the bottom of my mug with my brush soaking on top of it while I showered. I just emptied the water off wrung out my brush and made a good lather. No muss no fuss.

I do the same exact thing. I use Williams Mug soap everyday now. I'e especially found as the weather warms, it's a nice, light scent and I absolutely love the face feel. My face really has not felt smoother after a shave than with Williams. Even the high-end stuff, like MWF, Tabac, etc, don't make my face feel as smooth as Williams mug. Just my .02!
    Cheers

+1. I think with any soap you just have to know how to properly make the lather. More a user error rather than the puck.
What a curse be a dull razor; what a prideful comfort a sharp one

I think that's a pretty good observation, the other day, for whatever reason, I ended up with my lather drying up mid-shave, used the soap dozen's of times, just once in awhile something goes wrong, but yes, probably 9 times out of 10, it's the user.

    Good point.
