    Default a lather problem

Awhile back i was in chicago and picked up some truefitt and hill luxery shave soap and 1805. I normally use d.r harris (i love the marlborough) I tried my truefit and hill as soon as i got home. Lathered well, great shave. A lil unpleasant tingling. Next shave different razor, same thing. So after a few more uses it irritates my skin. I switched back to d.r. harris and after a few weeks tried it again. Same redness and irritation. I gave up on it and gave it to a friend. He loves it, and has no problems with it. I still had the 1805. I forgot about it. (About 3 months) i have used it a few times, but it doesnt lather as well as the truefitt and hill luxery shave soap or d.r. harris. I have done it the same way as my other soaps, it looks great but dries out. I add more water and it doesnt shave as well. I have gone so far as to measure the amount of water I add. I have not found the "sweet spot" i have tried everything but bottled water. More water, less water, more whipping, combinations of both. Has anyone else had this problem?

I've got that soap and never had any problem with it so far. Maybe a bad batch?
Was the one you had irritation problems with Sandlewood by any chance? If so this is quite common and must be the scent.

Keep working at it. I've been using T&H for years. It never disappoints. I use the tip a small demitasse spoon to scoop it out with, maybe the size of an M&M, not much at all. I also find different brushes give you different results. Now, ymmv but I tend to pump and swirl my brush, not much, but enough so it fans out at the bottom. I get loads of lather, and my older brushes have maintained there shape. You can also try adding a few drops of glycerin to the mix until you find the sweet spot, that should help with the lather. It's available at Walgreens.

I also like DR Harris Marlbourgh and T&H 1805. 1805 is one of my favorite scents.
