Trouble lathering Mike's Natural
I ordered two tins of Mike's Natural soaps and am having trouble getting them to lather well. Not sure what I am doing wrong. I get a thin, runny lather that actually gives a good shave but the lather drips off my razor when shaving which is annoying. Also, I can't seem to load enough soap on the brush to get enough lather in my scuttle for a three pass shave. Kind of defeats the scuttle idea. I have no problems with tons of other soaps. DR Harris, MWF, Cella, Proraso all lather well for me. Runny lather indicates too much water but using less water I don't seem to make progress. Any suggestions?

Thanked: 129I believe that this soap is quite thirsty and does require more water than you would normally use. Load the brush for about double the time and maybe some more than you would normally do. Once fully loaded either use a bowl or your face to build the lather. maybe start with a drier brush and add water as you build the lather, this works for me.

You clearly need more product on the brush IMO.
Are you using full bars or tins of soap or samples? My first experience with Mike using samples was as you described. If a sample was used then make sure to spread it thinly along as large a surface area as you can manage. This will facilitate loading product on your brush.
With a tin or a bar spread out in a dish I have found Mike's to lather as well as any product except perhaps Tabac. The scents are also out of this world. Hope you work it out.Last edited by GC7; 03-11-2014 at 05:41 PM.

I notice you mention using a scuttle. I tried several of Mike's and like them, but they don't like heat. Try using water that is only warm and not hot. When kept cool, Mike's is a very good lather.

This soap does not work well in scuttles imho. For Face lathering it's fine, but as mentioned it may not like heat. This soap received a lot of hype when it first came out. Considering all the options out there, I wasn't that impressed with it overall. It's a one sided soap.
Since I've purchased it, I only use on DE days, when I face lather. The fragrances are good.Last edited by zib; 03-16-2014 at 03:24 PM.
