I agree that LPL is a very good soap - not in the MdC class but not far off. I decided to try another French soap, Institut Karite, and was just as pleased with that one. I have quite hard water but all three of these lather easily.

As a Jordanian, I am seriously thinking of exploiting our natural Dead Sea resources and try to come up something creative from 'The Holy Land' it'll be fun to read musings about that hehe

What are the American shaving soaps that are talked about? I feel like I'm missing out.....
I can think of only a few production shave soaps & creams and I'm not even sure if they're made in the USA
Crabtree & Evelyn, Williams Mug soap, Taconic (Artisan?), the rest is all canned goo like Gillette and Barbasol, Colgate
Artisan soaps I can think of a couple that I tried - Mikes Natural Soaps, Portland General Store

There's nothing like the allure of something that seems exotic.

Forgot about those, I haven't tried either. Never heard anything good about Baxter shave cream. The Art of shaving, I don't see much about.
MDC, MWF seems to dominate here
