Thanked: 49First Proraso shave
I've been dying to try Proraso but am not quite ready to make an online order yet. Finally found this in Bath and Body Works. Can't say I love the scent. It reminds me of something but I cant place it. My grandparents come to mind though. It may grow on me. I didn't care for the smell of Williams soap or the Proraso white bottle ASB for sensitive skin at first either.
Anyway, MAN WHAT A SHAVE! It felt fantastic on my face, was very slick and made great lather. I really want to try the other varieties now; especially the sandalwood. Now I know what everyone has been talking about.

Thanked: 12Just picked of a tube of this too. Not sure how to use it with a brush. Do I just put some on my brush? How much do I use? Any help is appreciated still kind of new to all this.

I have good luck with about a 3/4" bead in my scuttle and a brush load of water to start.
The easy road is rarely rewarding.

I just picked up a can of the Proraso green.
Dude, get it. Seriously. This stuff is awesome.

1/2 inch of cream in a bowl - i dont keep the brush super-wet - i shake it out first, then start to lather and add water as needed. go to town with a badger or boar brush proraso is good sh#@.
enjoy the shave.

I love this cream. The feel on the face is absolutely divine. It's my Saturday morning regular. Another that you will love how it lathers is The Real Shave Co., shaving cream. Excellent cream, and can be had for around $5 at almost any Rite Aid.

This is my regular, no-fuss, go-to cream. I use a _lot_ of water with it and it expands into a long-lasting, water-holding thick lather.
Try the experiment (when not shaving) of just adding water and whipping the hell out of it, repeat, repeat, until you overdo the water and really ruin it. Then you'll know how much water it can take. In my experience, it's a lot. Have fun and enjoy!Keep your pivot dry!

I love Proraso as well. I'm told that the Bigalows branded shave cream at Bath and Body Works is rebranded Proraso. The smell comes from a combination of camphor and eucalyptus oils, which is the same ingredients in "Noxema" skin creams. Maybe this is what reminds you of your grandparents. I think that Proraso's pre-shave prep is the same formulation.Last edited by lcgraham; 03-31-2014 at 02:36 AM. Reason: addendum

Thanked: 49That could very well be. I do remember noxema being around. My mother used it as well. C. O. Bigelow's is rebranded Proraso. The original green type, menthol and eucalyptus. If you zoom in on my second pic you'll see that it says "made exclusively by Proraso for C. O. Bigelow".
