Thanked: 3795There is one chemical that you definitely want to avoid and that is Dihydrogen Monoxide.

I haven't used it myself so I can't vouch for it, but this sounds like something you may want to check out: Otoko Organics Wet Shave Essentials.

Hippies around here grow and make their own stuff the Foxfire way. I'm no hippie but i make my own shave soap (and bath soap which is very different, and lots of other stuff) from simple, some locally harvested, ingredients (fats/salts/clay). There's a thread on my recipe here somewhere. It's not a "how-to" make soap. It's a here's my _shave-soap_ recipe. How to is covered thoroughly all elsewhere.
The last time i tried a commercial soap (of modest price) i found it fluffy but very dry and drying. No plans to try storebought again (on my dime).Buttery Goodness is the Grail

My vote goes to Mikes Natural Soaps. If you haven't tried his soaps out yet you really should. The best soap I have for performance in my den and the ingredient list is amazing as well as all natural. Highly recommended.

Thanks MattCB,
I knew that "natural" would be a vague term, but I just wanted to get the ball rolling on some brands I could research. I'm no chemist, nor do I deal on the remedial side (so not as smart as the scientist minds out there). I deal with legal/liability issues in Superfund, but generally I try to stay away from ingredients I'm not too familiar with, or haven't really researched yet. My Mom is battling cancer and I'm trying to just be more aware of things I use on my body (puts things into perspective).
Thanks again for your thoughts. If you ever want to ramble on about any of this, I'd love to hear it. I'm a newbie in this process and anything helps.
Darren
