    Default Preferred Five Lineup update

    Gentlemen,
Periodically, I update my preferred lineup of five soaps and five creams. Some remain constant, such as Martin de Candre. For what it's worth, here is the newest lineup in order of preference:

    SOAPS

    Martin de Candre
    Le Pere Lucien
    Czech & Speake
The Art of Shaving (old formula)
    D.H. Harris Arlington

    CREAMS

    Xpec original
    Castle Forbes
    Santa Maria Novella
    Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet
    Baum.Bee

Thanks for posting this. Based on a few of the recommendations you made for me a while back, I'm pretty confident that I really couldn't go off track buying anyone of these ten.

MJB, I like Mike's Natural Soap and consider the best of the artisan soaps; however, it goes against tough competition in my five preferred.

I hear you Obie, your list is bulletproof, but Mike's Hungarian Lavender is the 8th wonder of the world...

Thanks Obie. For some reason I just can't get Le Pere Lucien to lather properly. Hopefully I'll figure it out one day - I have high hopes for it.

    MJB,
I use his barbershop scented soap and like it.

RoyalCake, shake off the excess water from your brush and then spend time loading it with the soap. Now, lather and adjust the water ratio. That should do it.

I'm disappointed Obie. I don't see Cousin's Festus' home made soap with genuine badger slobber. I'm told the owner of MDC secretly uses that soap instead of his own.

Spendur, my friend, Cousin Festus is coming out with his own version of Martin de Candre — for shaving legs.
