I've noticed that bristle type has a huge impact on soap sensitivity. Some soaps will give me the burn with plastic bristles, but not with BB.

    Nick,

Have you tried any of RJOutrams samples? I received some a couple of days ago and these feel really gentle but very effective?

I am one of the people with more sensitive skin. Don't want to think how many things I have tried ans still continue trying... Some notes:

Honeybee Sue (ebay) - chamomile shea - always mild
    Burma shave - pretty mild
Trumper's violet soap - also mild
Tabac - sometimes worse than others but most of the times mild
Lucky Tiger shave lotion - always mild
L'Occitane - often mild, sometimes not at all though
    Musgo Real cream - OK
KMF Lavender - sometimes OK, sometimes not

    Not so mild / irritate:
    Proraso green
Crabtree & Evelyn Nomad (but oh what a scent)
    Almost everything from Caswell-Massey
Several of Colleen's soaps (especially Oak & Moss)

    Can't remember more right now...

Unscented from one of the soapmistresses is probably the best option

    Cheers
    Ivo

The ones you get from the soapladies are generally OK if they use EO's not FO's. Mammabear's EO soaps work great for me. But her FO soaps burn like anything on my skin.

I just can't use soaps at all - but I haven't tried all soaps of course. I've been using the Omega eucalyptus cream recently and it's great.

Can anyone list the most common causes of irritation ? ( I know it can vary from individual to individual).

    Justin

Is skin sensitivity related to skin dryness? I have relatively oily skin and nothing short of Tabasco sauce seems to cause irritation.

I've always put mine down to dry skin, but I wouldn't really have a clue to be honest. I get a bit of hay fever in Spring, and this is when my skin sensitivity really flares up.

Tobasco sauce? Never had a problem with that. Hot English Mustard, on the other hand...

I'll show my limited cultural experience and admit I've never tried Hot English Mustard (on food that is) - I have to give it a try.

I feel sorry for you gals and your sensitive skin
