Oh no! Soap sensitivity
This is not good.
I think I have developed a senstivity to my block of cavendish black.
I am so disappointed, it was my favourite soap to use, and now whenever i lather up, it starts to burn my skin before i even finish stropping.
Any advice as to what i may be sensitive to? (Is it frangrance oil based?)
Anybody else sensitive to any particular ingredients in soap?
Any ideas would be appreciated
Thanks
Nick

You're not the first to say so about that one. May I recommend Colleen's creams? I've had nothing but great shaves with them.

I'm not particularly sensitive to any soaps but in general I "feel" better when using essential oil soaps ---- sometimes the fragrance oil soaps are a little too much.

CB's known to do that. Even though I have sensitive skin, it's just tough enough to handle the FOs in it, thank God

I have that with some soaps as well.
There is one commercial soap that I can use well (homme & homme I think) but I like colleens unscented soap best of all.
It does not irritate at all, and I don't like scented soap anyway.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

Thanked: 3To be honest, I don't think it's a matter of essential oils vs. fragrance oils. This is a fallacy that has become accepted as fact. There are some very harsh essential oils and some very gentle fragrance oils. It is more a matter of dosage: I find many soaps have really intense scents: the down size of having such potent scents is that the dosage of perfuming substances is probably very close to the threshold level tolerated by many people.

What about trumpers coral skin food? I just remembered that this is one other product that I find burns my skin unless I have a very gentle one pass DE shave.
Does it contain fragrance oils, or large quantities of anything?
I posted this before and nobody else seemed to know why I have had a reaction to it, but now i have had this with the cavendish black, maybe it is an oil issue.

Yes, my skin is sensitive to Coral skin food. It feels great, then it starts to burn a little. Maybe not 'burn', but, well, something less than burn. It's particularly bad when it comes into contact with a patch I've done too many strokes/passes on.
Problem is, I absolutely love it, so always use it. It only feels that way straight after a shave. When I put it on the next day (I only shave every 2 days) it doesn't react at all.
Go figure.

Thats exactly what i found. It isn't my sort of after shave treatment really. I like the american crew moisturiser, which burns much less, and is much more moisturising, and has a less sticky feel to it.
To me it seems strange that companies would use these ingredients in a product that is meant to be soothing. I guess there is just too much demand for fragrance these days. I have to say, I like frangranced soap, moisturiser i would prefer to have no smell whatsoever, but i can't find one!
