Love, love, love my George Town Pottery Scuttle! I have a Bunn Coffee maker only a few steps from the shave den. I run a carafe of water only. The insulated carafe keeps it hot for the walk to the shave den and no spills. The water out of the coffee maker is 195 -200 degrees Fahrenheit. Once I fill the scuttle I can only hold it by the handle. I fill the cup up too and soak the brush.

It take only about a minute or two for everything to be toasty warm. I leave a little water in the bottom of the soap cup. This thing makes a mountain of hot lather for every soap I've tried with it. I can easily get three passes of 'hot' lather out of the scuttle. If I take too long with pass one, sometimes the lather for pass two is almost too hot!

For me this is a part of the barbershop experience. The pre-shave is usually lather up my face and apply a hot towel over it. When I get back to the scuttle there is still plenty of hot lather for the shaving passes, and my whiskers are soft.

I do occasionally when in a hurry lather in a mug or face lather. It works of course, but it reminds me of why I love, love, love my scuttle. It is easy to clean up , and for me just massively enhances the shave experience.
