Greatest. Shave. Ever - Truefitt Ultimate Comfort cream.
This will be semi-stupid to many, but I've been rubbing my face all morning in awe so I had to post. I previously thought that soaps were minimal compared to the overall learning to shave, but today I was proven VERY wrong. Based on a post by one of the moderators on this site, I bought the below cream. OMG - AMAZING!! I literally did 1 pass on the cheeks and 2 (with and against grain) on my neck and it's the greatest shave ever. The level of bbs would have taken me 5 passes with my other soap. This is the best $25 I've spent since starting straight razor shaving.

Yes - it's a superb shaving soap.
So if you like that one, definitely don't try the 1805 or the Trafalgar , both are stellar soaps...glycerin based soaps are always a pleasure to use IMO.

@Phrank... I'm going with smells now... I still LOVE this cream and it's my daily, but I also bought the below that should be here tomorrow. I'm a scientist, I LOVE experimenting:

Another very nice one the TOBS....there are so many soaps that are outstanding. The Osma shaving soap, with Alum, is another really unique soap, right out there...some have problems getting a good lather with it, I never have, but the alum in it provides an uber close shave and leaves your face feeling deeply warm for hours afterwards...then there's the Barrister and Mann products, again some fine shaving soaps...this is how it begins though...the descent, or ascent, into SAD...Soap Acquisition Disorder, never knew I suffered from it until my wife mentioned I had more soaps than her....

@Phrank... yea, I'm quickly learning that the strop + razor is only the starting point in this addiction. I'm now onto soaps and scuttle mugs.

Ian, expect a package. It will contain a big coffee mug adjusted to aid in lather building. I've 'gifted' others with this, only in a plastic salsa bowl (developed problems that don't exist on ceramic). Favorite color is what?
And before I forget, Phrank, a good friend of mine, for some reason last year named me Pope Razorfeld. I've since established the Church of the Steel Blade. He is one of my Cardinals. Carndinals, Bishops, Deacons - scattered all over the place and each one responsible for a specific area or duty. You are hereby appointed (or annointed if it pleases you more) as Archbishop of Security and Medical Emergencies, given your military background. No specific duties other than to celebrate a daily Mass of Lathering of the Face. IF you should sin in the discharge of this duty 5 Hail Lynn's and 5 Hail Glen's are the only atonements needed."The sharpening stones from time to time provide officers with gasoline."

LOL - the scuttle, nothing like some hot lather, the old fashioned way.
A term I came up with in my starting days last year was, throwing myself a, "shave parade". I got to where a cold shave was what my usual is, and still is, but once in awhile I still bring out all the fixen's, pre-shave oil or balm, hot towel, get the scuttle all heated up, stir up some wonderful hot lather, and take my time and go through every step I can for a shave...have a, "shave parade", don't do it often, but when I do, it's always reminds me how much I enjoy this hobby!
edit: and Pope Razorfeld's shave bowl is very nice, takes the lather up a notch! And make sure you address him properly!!
