I use a lot more water in Arko than in some other tallow soaps (like Stirling). If I don't, yeah, it gets dry on one side while I shave the other.

Yes, you have to get the water ratio right. Just try adding a very little bit of water at a time.

All soaps are sensitive to water amount, and (he says defensively) I love the scent. Reminds me of just plain old soap. I use aftershave for scent. Soap for the lather and glide. With my rather hard water Arko lathers up great and provides great cushion for $4?!?!

I too love Arko, I use it both ways, rubbed directly onto my wet face, and also pressed into a mug. Both methods produce a very thick, creamy lather. I'm a big fan of the simple, old-school soap smell, and it doesn't break the bank.

Arko Urinal cakes has absolutely no place in my den. I'd rather grow a beard than ever use that crappy product! The scent is horrendous.

Funny, I wonder if Arko was $80.00 people would be singing the praises of it's unique scent?

    Big fan of Arko.

Face lather with boar and it seems to be a good combination as I don't have any dry-down issues.
