Thanked: 44No matter what the product, some will hate and some will like it. I tried for a few weeks and decided it was not for me. Just so that was the same day my wife brought me another tube. I tried a few mixes and found it was a lot easier to reach into the cabinet and get something I like.
I have enough experiments gone wrong in that cabinet.
The one I use now is based on Black soap and love it.Amateurs built the ark. Professionals built the Titanic!

Thanked: 0I believe Cremo originally used coconut scent and moved to a citrus. It seems really fresh to me, and I rely on Bay Rum products for a finish, which has always been a personal favorite. The soap itself seemed less important scent wise. I've been equally impressed with their pre shave wash and post shave conditioner-very reasonably priced and all high performance. No, I don't work for them. I do appreciate companies who produce excellent products we worker bees can afford and enjoy!

Thanks for all the great feedback on Cremo. It works great in the shower. It doesn't seem to impede my shaving in the shower with my 3 blade Schick. I mixed it with Barbasol for my straight razor shave and it worked well. I need to find a hot shave system like some of you all have, with the glycerin and thick lather. I'm lost when it comes to this stuff. Thanks.

Thanked: 4I've used it in the past as shave cream for my head. The problem I ran into is, it is thin and will run into my eyes. I saw an entry where the suggestion was to apply a thin layer to skin before applying soap/creme with brush, (+1). It definitely makes a slippery surface especially with a little added water. I started following this routine a few weeks back. I use a Head Blade Sport, (push the blade vs pull), and lately I've been shaving every 3 -4 days instead of the daily routine I've done for the last couple of years. It seems to stay around for passes 2 and 3. If applied thick it will gum up, similar to a shave butter but keep it thin and you'll be happy.

I use a dime/nickle sized glob of cremo for head shaving. I get my head wet and rub it in. Then I use two hands to shave. One to hold the razor, the other hand, I keep wet and rub ahead of the razor to keep the cream wet (and slick) and feel for risidual hair. I rinse the razor frequently and for additional passes I just rewet with my non-razor holding hand. Works great, very slick.
I've used this method with carts, DE and lately SE razors. I also keep a towel handy to wipe my forehead and dry my hands when I switch the razor between hands.Fuit radere viam antique masculum.
