Thread: Most underrated soap/cream under $20

The Cella Crema Sapone Extra Extra Purissma, 1 kg, is amazing value

I've tried a few samples, and bought a full tub of Mickey Lee Soapworks soaps recently. They are $16 each, lather very well and smell amazing.

I've tried the Grand Havana, The Kraken and the Drunken Goat and they are all very nice soaps.

Yes there are tons of great soap out there for that price range. One of the things I love about our hobby, It "can" be rather inexpensive. But whats the fun in that right. LOL. For me, I think my favorite sub $20 soap has to be (WSP) Wet Shaving Products soap. Either the Rustic or the Formula T version are top notch and tons of great scents to choose from.

When I look for soap I take the performance value first, then scent second.
Most of the stuff I have tried, mainly artisan, dries out on the face before the end of the first pass, or does not generate enough lather for 3 passes.
Adding more water to remedy the drying issue results in unstable lather, with no middle ground to aim for to dial in the performance.

Form me the good old MWF is the most underrated under $20 soap out there.

Update on the Lord shaving cream for 97 cents. 2nd use it lathered up real nice and worked great, 3rd use was lackluster. So I guess it depends on how you whip it up. It does use more than other soaps so really not saving much by paying so little

I can put Wilkinson Sword blue tub on that list. I bought it for $5.99 at my local pharmacy, it's not the best soap around but it get the job done and it's not to difficult to make it lather.

Had the same experience with the VDH soaps. I tried the plain pink/flesh coloured one, Deluxe I believe, and was not really impressed by it. Just got a puck of VDH Luxury Unscented and have tried it a couple of times now. The VDH Luxury soap is a different animal all right making a very good lather. I'd have no hesitation using it if they sold it up here in the stores.

Since it is made in Texas I wonder if it lathers well with hard water?
