It's not glycerin puck hard and not as soft as some so I will call it middle of the road. Similar in lather to MdC but not quite as nice.

I won't promise the most exotic and deep scented perfume on this soap. Quite the contrary. Its a very simple and very light almond scent. But it performs exceptionally well. Its definitely in my top 5.
I'm interested in this. It looks like it's a putty. Do you just tear a hunk off and push it to the bottom of your cup for lathering?

Yes, that's exactly it. I prefer that as I like to build a lather on top of the soap rather than loading the brush with soap and creating a lather. Its much easier and always gives you the best lather the soap is capable of.

Speaking of soaps and lather, my good friend Stefan just sent me bag full of samples to try out. There has to be at least 15 different samples to try. Being 100% sold on Barrister and Mann, I don't get out much these days. So, among many, I have Meisner Tremonia, Cold River, Sterling, and Le Savon des Volcans. Lots to experiment with.

Great! This is the next soap I'll try. Where do you typically buy it from?

BTW,maths absolute best value in soaps under $20 is Barrister and Mann's Latha line of soaps.

Just tried Williams mug soap. I was very impressed. I had it sitting around for a coupel of months but somehow never bothered to use it. I guess at les than 1.50$ I assumed it wouldnt be very good. Well I was wrong.

C.O Bigelow has to be in there somewhere. Pretty good stuff IMO.

I think it's just great that there are so many really great shaving soaps at reasonable prices. This morning for example it was RazoRock XXX and I got an excellent BBS shave and that $10 tub will last a long time. If I had to pick just one as THE best for under $20.00 (and it would be a really tough call with so many strong contenders) I think I'd have to go with Barrister and Mann. Luckily, I don't have to pick just one, but I may need an additional shelf for my shaving soaps.

Edit: On second thought, I don't think that Barrister and Mann is underrated. I think they are highly rated by almost everyone. So, perhaps I'll substitute Stirling Soap Company, who makes excellent shave soaps, yet is mentioned far less often.

Was at the store the other day and saw they had some Lord shaving cream on sale for 97 cents.
I cant say it was that great. Heck I cant even say dollar for dollar it is comparable to anything because, well it didnt even cost a dollar.
Would I buy it again? Probably not Williams seems much better at under 1.50$ but I will use it all
