Excellent point.
While the cost benefit of a large 200g jar is obvious, the fact that MdC is so economical that it might be good for >100 shaves is often overlooked.
It puts the entire MdC cost debate into a new light.

And my wife and I love the scent of MdC bath soap too.


One word of caution though:
The 50g (travel) jar opening is barely wide enough for medium brushes, let alone large ones.
Should have ordered another 200g jar (despite its 500g weight), but wanted to cut back on weight when travelling by air.

MdC fougere, no doubt about it.

I do 3+ passes loading a dry/damp brush for 30 seconds lightly. I minimize the water to load (no blooming at all, wring and shake brush) then hydrate as I facelather. I have measured my usage to confirm my suspicions of MdC's economy: I use a little more than half a gram per shave, with copious, wonderful lather. It is my MOST economical soap on a per usage basis. For comparison, I use 3g per shave of italian soft soaps like Cella and Razorock.

Also, Le Pere Luciene is a fougere scent to my nose, and it is heavenly. It may be more intoxicating than MdC and the shave seems great. Just got it, but MdC is my normal soap.

Here's the top of mine after a couple of months of almost everyday use.

As well as Arlington, and MdC, I'd also throw in Penhaligon's Sartorial. It's a great fougere scent, and the performance is pretty good. The price however is on the high side, as with most things Penhaligons
