If you are just looking for cheap & effective, it's hard to go wrong with Arko.

Quality is always a key and I want something that is good if not "The Best"
I personally like some of the more weird scents like Orange menthol
As far as I know so far I like soap better than cream

I think everyone here will agree that there is no "The Best" cream, soap, brush, razor, strop, or anything. "The Best" is always very personal.
Quality is difficult to establish with products whose labels are incomplete, or misleading. Even then, people will define "quality" differently. Take this definition: "In manufacturing, a measure of excellence or a state of being free from defects, deficiencies and significant variations." Most people associate "quality" with the former, some with the latter part of the definition.
Weird scents are easily had, but whether they will be pleasing is a different matter entirely. If you've ever wondered why Shirley Brody is world famous, you've got the explanation right here. Some people are good at making soaps, others at making scents. Outside industrial production, I know exactly one manufacturer who is equally good at both.Last edited by RobinK; 05-29-2015 at 03:54 PM.

Hard to say the "best" since every face is different and every person has a different view on what is best. But that said, I like most any soap with lanolin or glycerin in it and my tops are MWF and Poraso white & green tubs. In a tube paste I like the scent and way it feels Godrej and now Musgo in lavendar scent.
I also like a few scents from Mama Bear as well. I think you will have to try them on for yourself to see if they work for you. But these are my picks to date.German blade snob!

LIke commonsenseman stated for cheap & good I do have Arko as well. Only problem with Arko is that it is either a love or hate relationship from what I have seen. Mainly folks may like the soap but the scent is somewhat medicinal smelling to a degree to me but I have even heard it stated that is smells like a "urinal cake"!!!! Now that is funny but the more I think of it.......rather true!
But it works!German blade snob!

Thanked: 4942I still compare all suds to Xpec, Castle Forbes and Baume.be. Most Artisan soaps don't cut it for me at all. Some good ones in my opinion are Meissner, Dr. Jons, Esbjerg, LPL, St. James, Mdc, most of the Trumpers and DR Harris.
Have fun

Why not try a lot different brands. SRD Maggard and others have sample size soaps and creams. That way you can try a lot of them and not break the bank. For me I haven't tried a lot of different ones maybe 10-15 and Sweet Patchouli from SRD hits the spot. nice sent and creates a very thick and creamy lather. anyway try a lot of different ones. that's part of the fun. just my 2 1/2 cents worth.

Lots of opinions , like I feel MDC and some others to be superior products ,just don't feel, like I have to trash the other brands because its made in a certain place, as a matter of fact I happen to like Xpec also , or Baume . be. Along with a couple others that were purchased at your store, but you also have brands I don't care for , but I never call any of them out as bad products that were made in the wrong country. Tc
